Michele Barfield holds the distinction of being the first to fill one of the new Temple Emanu-El tzedakah boxes, which became available for pick-up in the Temple foyer after Yom Kippur services. She says she gathered up an accumulation of loose change, applied it immediately to the task at hand, and brought her contribution to Temple the next day.
